ALBANY- Yvette A. Mitchell, age 55, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 16, 2020.
She was born in Kingston, Jamaica, the daughter of Rudolph and Delores McBean.
Yvette migrated to United States in 1972 and attended St. Vincent Grade School and St. Casimir's Junior High. She graduated from Albany High School and attended Robert Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY, graduating in 1988 with a Bachelor's degree- majoring in Pre law and an Associate's degree in Business.
She gave her life to the Lord at 12 years of age at the Church of God of Prophecy NYS Convention. She became a member of the COGOP Albany in 1982 and served as a Leader for Gleaners, Youth, Care Group and various committees in the church. Her longest position being the Church Treasurer from 1989 to present.
Yvette dedicated her life to the youth of the church, where she watched over and cared for them. She did not have any biological children; however, she had many spiritual children. She was an extremely faithful member to the Church, willing to go beyond the call of duty.
She was married to Damon Mitchell from 2002 until his premature death in 2018.
Yvette is survived by her mother and father; three sisters: Marcia (Albany), Juliet and Schenette (Jamaica); aunts: Monica, Arnella, Dimple; cousins: Alvin, Charmine, Carmaletta, Dean, Heather, Opal, Gary, Tricia, Tonya, Kevin, Lavar, Darnell, Carlene, Nadine, Angie, Joanne, Beverly, Tony, Ronald, Donovan, other family, Bishop Earl and First Lady Ella McKay and their children, Christopher W. (Angie, Andre and Micah), Eleanor (Christopher L.) McKay, Bishop Timothy and First Lady Barbara Scotton along with a host of other family and friends.
Due to COVID restraints, attendees are limited and services will be private at the convenience of the family. Facemasks and social distancing will be required, along with COVID screening protocols will be in place for attendees.
