Yvonne "Bonnie" H. Castle

COLONIE- Yvonne “Bonnie” H. Castle, age 80, passed away on December 19, 2024 surrounded by family.

She was born in Troy, the daughter of the late Kenneth W. and Alma Messier. She was predeceased by her three brothers: Kenneth, Raymond and Merrill Messier and her son, Arthur Castle Jr.

Bonnie graduated from Averill Park High School. A gifted artist, Bonnie enjoyed crafting, decorative painting and card-making. A member of the Capitolers of Albany, NY, she also taught Tole Painting thru her business “Bonnie’s Paintbox.” Bonnie was commissioned to paint an ornament for the White House Christmas tree during former President George Bush’s administration.

Bonnie also had a passion for animals, as evidenced by her numerous pets of many types. She was known throughout her neighborhood as the person to go to with found or injured animals, which she would nurse back to health.

Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Arthur D. Castle; children: Timothy (Heather) Castle, Kirstina (Fred) Mowers and Christopher Castle; and sister in law, Patricia Messier. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Friday December 27, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 Noon at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. All are invited to attend her funeral service following at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, NY.
