God called his daughter, Yvonne A. Sachar, home on September 8, 2011, reuniting her with her beloved husband Victor, who predeceased her on August 1, 2000.
Born in Seattle, Washington on October 20, 1928 to the late Alvin E. Jacobson and Elizabeth Starrett Marshall she lived and traveled all over the United States and Canada. As a young woman she graduated from The Albany College of Pharmacy as one of two women in her class. She was a brilliant woman graduating college in her teens, who loved math and puzzles. She was most proud of her large family and of her career as a pharmacist. She fondly recalled her days of traveling for RiteAid where she worked for 27 years before retiring in 1995.
Surviving are Victoria (Len) Valente, Deborah (David) Brown, Cyndee (Ron) Krofft, Pamela (Charlie) Adams, Steven Sachar, David Sachar, Sharon (Jason) Regels, Phillip (Lisa) Sachar, 22 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sister in law Gloria Nelson, niece, 2 nephews and various other relatives and special friends Shirley and Mitzi who she looked forward to having tea and cookies with as often as possible. Predeceased by 3 grandchildren.
Yvonne bravely battled Alzheimer's and lived each day to the best of her abilities. She really enjoyed her daycare programs and the family extends our most appreciative thanks to Margalena, Heidi and Debbie, also to Sister Grace and all the other aides who helped keep her happy, safe and at home as long as possible. She loved watching baseball in the evenings with Charlie, not so much the auto racing or cartoons but whatever he was watching then so was she. She also loved to listen to music, especially big band and swing, her foot would get to tapping and the next thing you knew it was time to kitchen dance.
Her bravery and courage during her illness were an inspiration to all those who helped to care for her. Our motto was one thing, one step, one day at a time and when she smiled it was something very special to see. We lived for those moments of happiness, her sparkling eyes and those big smiles. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts for her love and support through out the years and we are forever honored and grateful to her for allowing us to love and support her during her time of need. Our memories of her will guide us through our grief and help to lighten our burdens. She will be forever loved and in our hearts.
Relatives and Friends may call on Monday, September 12, 2011, from 5:00-7:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. Funeral Service will follow at 7:00pm. Inurnment will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
